#646 ... Newtown Shines

The thirteenth Newtown Festival attracted a crowd estimated at 70,000 people to its annual street fair on Sunday. The suburb’s main streets were closed to traffic and filled with visitors, who watched entertainment on five stages, sampled a variety of food, and bought bargains from 330 stalls of ethnic food, clothing and assorted knick-knacks.... with a Brazilian parade ending the sunny afternoon.

Event organisers are buzzing after staging the annual events, saying the great weather helped woo huge crowds. The Newtown Festival turned into a double-header when 9000 visitors took the opportunity to walk through Wellington's new state-of-the-art regional hospital.

70,000! That is a lot of poeple. It looks really hot outside - the girl in white is very burned.

Hope you had fun.
